Youthful OffenderYouthful Offender Act. The Alabama Legislature approved the state's Youthful Offender Act in order to shield young persons with otherwise good records from the harsh realities of the criminal justice system.Youthful Offender Status. Youthful Offender status may be granted if a person is under the age of 21 years, or if the underlying offense was committed when the person was under age 21.Adjudicated a Youthful Offender. A young person can be adjudicated a Youthful Offender for misdemeanor charges, such as Driving Under the Influence and Possession of Marijuana, and even most felonies, although the adjudication is at the sole discretion of the judge.Youthful Offender Cases.
